It's All About the Evidence: To Catch A Killer!

As the Forensic Science intern at McGrath, for this month's display, the topics chosen are in the Forensic Science areas of: Blood Evidence; DNA Evidence; Forensic Profiling / Forensic Psychiatry Serial Profiling; Battle Against Misidentification; and the Innocence Project. These topics are very important issues in ensuring that the evidence that is discovered at crime scenes is processed and interpreted correctly to ensure the proper identification and capture of the perpetrator, otherwise as known as “killers” in the case of a homicide or murder. Even with all of the time that I spend at McGrath, I was still surprised to discover many more valuable resources that are here for the Forensic Science / CSI students. These resources are valuable tools to be used in assisting the Hilbert students not only in developing the resources for FS research papers, but also for designing powerpoint presentations, writing the final paper, and any other type of data or presentation that the student wants to create. So Forensic Science majors - Don’t forget to check out this new display… Stop by and see the new resources available so that you can utilize some of these in the spring! Enjoy!!!

Bones, Bugs and Bodies

As an intern at McGrath, and a forensic science major at Hilbert, I chose for my first Library display the Forensic Science areas of Anthropology and Entomology; hence the name of my display is Bones, Bugs and Bodies. This display concentrates on two very important forensic science topics that are discussed in many of our forensic classes here. I’ve learned during my internship at McGrath that our library has many resources available to us. These resources can assist us, as students, in choosing topics for our research papers and a few of the ways in which to combine books, articles, and movies. Hopefully, my choice of topic for this display attracts our FS majors to check out all of the resources available here at McGrath. Enjoy!!

Outstanding Library of Western New York!

The McGrath Librarians are celebrating nearly three years of visioning, implementation, physical labor, and more brainstorming! Last evening we were recognized for our achievements in spearheading new programs and partnerships, broadening services, improving aesthetics, and totally re-defining the library’s mission on campus and in the Hamburg community. We thank the Western New York Library Resources Council for sponsoring the award, and we thank you, the Hilbert College and Hamburg communities, for your continued support, patience and enthusiasm throughout the process.
